Grief is like a shipwreck

Hello, I've been thinking over the last couple of days about what to share with you. And my thoughts have returned to a text that has been helpful to me, particularly over the last year and a bit. This time it is not scripture. Here it is slightly altered. The original text refers to the loss of a loved one; it has been my experience that grief is not limited to the loss of a person which is why I haven't been completely faithful to the original quote. 'All right, here goes. I'm old. What that means is that I've survived (so far) and a lot of people I've known and loved did not. I've lost friends, best friends, acquaintances, co-workers, grandparents, relatives, teachers, mentors, students, neighbours, and a host of other folks. I have no children, and I can't imagine the pain it must be to lose a child. But here's my two cents on loss. I wish I could say you get used to loss. I never did. I don't want to.
